Hope…Aviron jewelry celebrating life

image

We all know those beautiful souls we come across in life that seem to be bright no matter what they experience.  Strong faith that our lives unfold in divine order is likely behind that brightness.  My friend Joy is just one of those people.  She and her family have weathered many events that would have crippled and weakened others, yet they persevere and continue to lift up those around them.

She recently asked me to create a necklace for her to celebrate hope, surviving cancer and the memory of her brother whose life ended much too early.  For her the word hope symbolized all of these things and more.  She began running shortly after her experience with breast cancer and before she knew it she was hooked.  When she asked me to create a necklace she could wear while running that kept her heart close to those things that also motivated her to live her best most authentic life…to say the least I was honored.  When all was said and done…she ended up with two necklaces that celebrated life and the beautiful energy that she brings to it.  Joy’s energy and unwavering hope in life is infectious…to everyone she meets.  You can follow her blog and read more about her journey here http://justkeepswimming120512.blog spot.com/2014/10/a-wearable-tribute-to-my-brother.html

Aviron has brought the opportunity for me to experience and be a part of so many amazing lives around the country.  For that I am grateful.  Aviron’s mission to celebrate your healthy lifestyle and to live your best life continues.

5 reasons to be grateful for running on a day with temps in the 1 degree mark

IMG_3072These days any run around here starts in the house layering warm technical clothes…breaking out the hand warmers…setting my iPhone to just the right podcast. This morning my intention was to listen to “The transformative power of practicing gratitude” a Rich Roll podcast. However…my iPhone just kept swirling and swirling and not allowing me to access the content. Of course at first I was really irritated because this is my time to soak up some interesting content, make my run more than productive and become enlightened right?
Well….not today, or so I thought. I tucked my iPhone and earbuds in my coat pocket and set off down the road. The snow crunching under my feet, the birds chirping, the sun shining…and then I realized the gift that was set before me. My run was likely more enlightening than I had anticipated. I had forgotten how it feeds your soul to have only your thoughts during a run…thoughts of gratitude and being present in the moment. There is no question that when it is 1 degree outside you are present in the moment, feeling the bitter cold on your cheeks, waiting for your finger tips to thaw out despite having hand warmers in your gloves, feeling the dichotomy of the warm sun and bitter cold as you push through each mile. I realized that I didn’t need to listen to a podcast about gratitude…I had gratitude all around me that I wouldn’t have been open to with earbuds distracting me. I’ve always enjoyed the solitude of running alone but some days you just need it more than others.

My 5 reasons to be grateful for running on a day with 1 degree temps:

1. Because I can. Simply. I run for those who can’t.
2. The crunchy snow on the road provides more traction…less chance of
a fall on the ice = balance. Spiritually and physically.
3. Solitude on the road…no one else is running out there and mental
solitude heals.
4. The cold air fills your lungs and and they work harder…you are stronger.
5. The snow and cold quiets everything around you except the birds and
wind creaking the frozen trees and you realize that life is all about
change. Soon Spring will come and life will be different.

Live in the moment

“Do something. Do something to that, and then do something to that. Pretty soon you’ve got something.” —Jasper Johns, painter

Aviron  has certainly been doing something  for the last year…taking time to reflect on the path that this whole endeavor has taken us and where it needs to move to next.  Soul searching, meditating and allowing the Universe to set my course.  Even though the posts have been few Aviron is still vibrant and moving forward.

It seems fitting to start with The Jasper Johns quote above which aptly describes the process that Aviron has been undergoing since its inception.  We started with one thing…then we did something to that…then we did something else and pretty soon…we had something pretty cool that seemed to be getting a lot of buzz…Aviron’s enameled designs.  We took those out across the country and they sparked quite an interest.

Avirons designs are one of a kind…no one is doing anything close to this out there.

Aviron is growing and we are excited about the journey!  We  have always been about earthiness, celebrating life, health and empowering women.  Aviron’s designs have celebrated women’s accomplishments across the board…completing your first marathon or your 20th, surviving cancer, shifting to a healthier way of living through yoga and expanding your consciousness.  Our “breathe” and “dream” necklaces serve as beautiful reminders to celebrate yourself and live your best life.

Aviron’s purpose and mission are clearly defined now but ever evolving.  As Malcolm Gladwell says “That’s your responsibility as a person, as a human being — to constantly be updating your positions on as many things as possible. And if you don’t contradict yourself on a regular basis, then you’re not thinking.” http://buff.ly/1yDk8bb

The evolution of Aviron and our mission to support a healthy, active lifestyle while empowering women to live and celebrate their best life will be evident here as we grow.  Sharing our insights into healthy living and those that support this choice will be our mission as well.
